American United
Oil on canvas - 18x30
2002
I wanted to do a piece to help organize some feelings, premonitions and concerns I was having in a post 9-11 America.
I'll talk more about this painting as the month goes on.
The Uncarved Block - Little Brother
Video - 13:56
On the TV puppet, we premier footage from The Uncarved Block, our back in the day avant-garde hip hop show. In this episode, we go back to 2004 and spend some time with the hip hop group Little Brother.
"When you discard arrogance, complexity and a few other things that get in the way, sooner or later you will discover the simple, childlike and mysterious secret known to those of the Uncarved Block: Life is Fun."
Comment
A lot going on canvas - I see a lot of youth (maybe it's 1984) or maybe a viceral reaction. The colors are pronounced on the back side of the black paint.
The video is great for a hip-hop show - it's candid and you got some great/beautiful shots. The narrative a pretty cohesive and you definitely captured something worth capturiing.
Keep doing this - it's good.
